Center for Advantage

Workshop Program:

Sun Tzu Art of War: Win Without Fighting
From Conflict Management to Strategic Management Perspective

About 2500 years ago, a Chinese military strategist – SUN TZU, wrote a brief book on warfare.  Its principles are still widely used in the battlefield and also in the fields of politics and commerce. Sun Tzu said:  Leader who takes on the role of the commander, without understanding the strategy of warfare invite defeat.  Strategy is the great work of the organization.  In situations of life or death, it is survival or extinction; therefore – it needs careful study.  Those who are not aware of disadvantageous strategies, cannot be aware of strategies that are advantageous.

The Sun Tzu's Art of War provides the first known attempt to formulate a rational basis for the planning and conduct of military operations. The principles are still widely used in the battlefield and also in the fields of politics and commerce. Sun Tzu Art of War and The Thirty-Six Strategies offer timeless insights into the nature of human conflicts under extreme conditions.  Too often we allow rigid ways of thinking and habits to limit our ability to deal with problems.
